Is it possible to get internet access throughout Asia?

Internet access was ubiquitous in all large cities in all the countries. It was also ubiquitous in any touristy or populated area in Thailand. It was easy to find net access in Cambodia and Vietnam, but not quite as easy as Thailand. Net access is really cheap, though it varies by country. You may have wondered where all those wonderful old computers of yesteryear went - all America’s old PCs are in Cambodia and Vietnam, so get ready for typing on keyboard where the letters are paint-penned on and this kind of thing.

I didn’t take my laptop travelling with me, and I’ve sort of regretted it. In every major city I’ve seen at least one wifi capable internet cafe. I’ve also seen them on the islands too (at least at Samui, Phangan, and Phi Phi).

As for the speed, on the Thai mainland most cafes are 512kbits, but you can find 1024. As for the islands, they’re all 512 (and quite expensive I might add). All the islands use satellite internet from what I could see, so latency might be an issue.

Thailand has pretty decent internet infrastructure. It’s not so great on a lot of the islands. The islands have high costs of living (comparatively) and the beaches will also be a little bit pricier. Internet in Thailand is a whopping 600 THB a month. Plenty of apartments include it for free. I would look into Pattaya or Hua Hin. Neither are the best beach, but they are on the mainland and thus should have decent internet.
