Can you recommend some good restaurants or food to try in Thailand?

Eat Pad Thai noodles and Kow Thom (rice soup)!

“Laap” is a Northeastern Thai/Lao dish I like. It’s minced pork/chicken/other with chilli, lime, and other herbs and spices that you eat with sticky rice. Tends to be spicy.
The best Indian food I’ve ever eaten was at a place in Kanchanaburi that was called something like “Ali Bongo’s”, across the road from Blue Star Guesthouse. I think it’s run by Thais. I paid more for a meal there than I spent on accommodation at Blue Star, but it was so worth it.
If you want to try Japan’s take on burger-and-fries, there are a few Mos Burgers in Bangkok (Central World and Paragon shopping centeres each have one). I find it pretty good, though the portions are kind of small.
If you don’t mind Western prices, the Italian restaurant at the Four Seasons in Bangkok is excellent. Best pizza I’ve ever had. People said good things about the pizza at Bangkok Bar (on Soi Rambuttri, near Khao San) but I found it completely mediocre.
Actually, if you’re into food/cooking, there seem to be Thai cooking classes offered anywhere there are tourists in Thailand. Chiang Mai is best known for it, but there are some in Bangkok as well.
