Is it really neccessary to get travel insurance for my trip?

Just get usual travel insurance that will cover the health insurance. I can’t remember the exact cost, but you seriously need it. If anything bad happens that requires a hospital stay that can be costly, if anything really bad happens and you need to be transferred home in an emergency that costs an absolute ton. And if something really bad happens and you die, repatriation costs a lot as well. I think my health insurance was £70 for 6 months or something.

Try STA Travel if you haven’t already. If you’re eligible, you get some basic coverage with the $25 ISIC card that would probably be enough. I got one just for the corpse repatriation coverage, on top of my regular plan.

Buy travel insurance. This is a must. You can buy a package of insurance for the duration of your trip. If you don’t and you end up spending a week in hospital with a broken leg the costs could call an end to your trip. Insurance will also cover it if you are seriously ill and need to be flown home (which can literally cost tens of thousands) and the cost of repatriation (getting your dead body flown home.) It is seriously foolish not to have it.
