What do I do if I damage my rented motorbike or car?

When you rent a motorbike if it says “full insurance” and I pop a tire, is that covered or does it mean insurance if I run someone over? Because I rented a bike and got a flat. The place I rented it from is closed so I can’t ask. Am I going to get owned by a huge fine here? Should I get it fixed before I return it? Is the rental place going to try to rip me off (Pop’s something in Chiang Mai). Do they have that fix-a-flat shit in a can here? Where should I go?

When we fucked up our hire car we stopped at a whole lot of panel beaters on the way back to the shop. None of them could do it in the short time we had but they happily gave us prices.
The shops are easy to spot, just a shed with cars in various states of repair and tyres out the front, usually along major roads.
I would just take it back and get a new tire, I don’t honestly think they’re going to charge you for a new tire. It’d probably be cheaper than getting it sorted at a panel beater anyway.

You can get bike tyres fixed at all kinds of places - anyone with a pile of bikes out the front will be able to do it. Fixing a puncture should cost 200-300baht

If you don’t have the patience to shop online - or if you need something in an emergency, there is nothing wrong with hitting your local retailer. In most cases the parts they offer will have a lifetime warranty and even if they don’t have the part you need they will either know where to get it or how to order it. You should look at various local shops and price compare and there is nothing wrong with educating yourself on the various brands out there that serve your make and model car.
